I received my first issue of the UMAction Briefing about
2 years ago. After reading that first issue and the following issues, it became apparent to me that the expressed views of the UMAction Briefing Editor and Executive Director, Mark Tooley, and the rest of their staff closely paralleled my own views of what the United Methodist Church stands for and what the Church should be doing regarding the many very difficult issues we face today.
Through reading the UMAction Briefing, and
various media press releases, I also came to realize that I do not agree with many of the positions various parts of the United Methodist Church has taken and continues to take on those difficult issues - in some
cases disagreeing to the point that I found myself actually considering a departure from the Methodist Church even though I have been a member for more than 60 years. However, through the UMAction Briefing I learned that a better course of action would be to remain in the Church and work for reform to get it back to the
scriptures and the base values we all grew up with as Methodists.
Please take the time to read the Spring 2007 , Fall 2007 , and Winter 2007 issues of the UMAction Briefing, and decide for yourself. And, for more information on
UMAction programs and priorities, go direct to the UMAction
